「サーモンの刺身」 (for project)

二回目の話は、セルビアからのコラクさんのサーモンの刺身の話です。

Whenever I travel I try to eat all of the local foods as much as possible. On one hand, I am able to more fully experience the culture of the new place and connect to the country. On the other hand, I am able to share an adventure with my travel companions since we are trying new cuisine together for the first time. At times like this food truly brings everyone together!

"On Valentines day 2009, my girlfriend and I went to this fancy Japanese restaurant in NYC. It’s near NYU. Since sashimi is her favorite (if there is one food to give her, that's sashimi), we ordered salmon sashimi. I usually hated fish. I never ate them, but I ate it that time, because I felt like I needed to act like a man. I didn’t like it that much, but I grew to like it. Now I love eating salmon sashimi. More importantly, every time I see salmon sashimi I will think of her."

コラクさんは彼女と出会う前にお刺身を食べたことがありませんでした。三年前、バレンタインデーのために彼女と一緒にニューヨークに行って日本料理を食べました。彼女はサーモン刺身が大好きなのでサーモン刺身を注文しました。魚が嫌いだったけれどもコラクさんは彼女のために刺身を食べました。どんどん好きになってきました。サーモン刺身を見る時、彼女のことが心のなかで浮かぶようになりました。

愛があれば、嫌いな食べ物も好きになってしまうのではないでしょうか。
